I know to Love Life... I know to live life...

Artist Statement

Manish Lal Shrestha conceived this as a large-scale public art project, aiming to create both conceptual impact and physical presence. Rather than confining art within architectural space, he envisioned it blending with the architecture on a monumental scale. Thus, different colored clothes were stitched together to form a vast, united tapestry displayed in Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Nepal. Importantly, the work was collaborative and interactive, engaging hundreds of visitors, art lovers, and fellow artists in its ongoing creation.

Furthermore, the artist emphasizes the process of making, which holds special significance in post-modern culture. The tapestry was layered along the temple staircase, creating a path toward the almighty, while including the temples and surrounding space as part of the artwork. Since clothes touch our daily life as a “second skin,” he intentionally used fabrics to craft an interactive, experiential installation. Ultimately, the concept celebrates collective life, invites public attention, and fosters community through art.
