Tapestry Project
Tapestry Project is a community-based art initiative that connects people through shared human experiences—through touch, emotion, and collective expression. While Nepal and Taiwan have distinct cultural identities, both share the vulnerability of being in earthquake-prone regions. The devastating 2015 Nepal Earthquake deeply transformed my artistic direction—from public art practices to community-centered work focused on healing, resilience, and social engagement. During the residency, I aim to create a participatory project in Taiwan that explores healing through performance, sound, video and collective creation. The process will involve community members contributing personal clothing—an intimate material that carries both physical and emotional significance. Participants will paint, write, and express their emotions directly onto these garments. These individual pieces will then be stitched together with fine white thread, forming a large tapestry installation. The project emphasizes process over outcome—fostering connection, joy, and shared experience through workshops, performances, and collaborative making.
